Dr Hua Cao is a Secretary and Treasurer of the Association. She was born in Beijing. She was admitted to Beijing Medical University in 1980 and graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine six years later. In July 1987, she came to pursue her PhD degree with the research scholarship at the Department of Psychiatry, Flinders University, Adelaide, capital of South Australia.  Later on she also obtained a Bachelor’s degree in the Traditional Chinese Medicine at RMIT university as a result of personal interest.  Since she had been excellent in all aspects, Dr Cao was awarded the RMIT Institute Award, which is awarded annually to only one graduate.

Dr Cao had been engaged in mental health job at government institutions for a few years and concurrently acquired the diploma of professional counselling.  She has done a lot of work for the mental health of Chinese and other ethnic groups.

In the past ten years, Dr Cao has practiced at her own clinic of traditional Chinese Medicine.  She has relieved people of their illness with her excellent professional expertise and was well liked by a large number of patients for her amiability and reasonable charges.

Since 1995, Dr Cao has taken an active part in helping the immigrants with Chinese backgrounds and non-English backgrounds.  She was once Vice President and the President of the Management of Victoria Children Services for Ethnic Groups and is the current Treasurer of the Management Committee of Action on Disability within Ethnic Groups.  She has also devoted herself a great deal of volunteer work at the North Eastern Melbourne Chinese community in Melbourne.  As a result, Dr Cao was awarded the Meritorious Service Award, Government of Victoria Award for Excellence in Multicultural Affairs on the 10th of September 2010.
